Unlike traditional sluice boxes, the fluid bed sluice does not use a set of riffles, matting, or carpet to capture gold. Instead, they use a fluid bed of water, sand, and small pebbles in a collection tray that is cast into the sluice to trap gold.
This version of a fluid bed sluice is a step above the rest. Constructed of clear polycarbonate (the same stuff bullet proof glass is made of), this stuff is virtually indestructible. Unlike most fluid bed sluices where you have to remove the entire box from the stream, the 36" River Hog has a patented Removable Capture Tray which allows for a very quick clean out. It also eliminates the need to lift the whole unit out of the water, saving valuable time re-setting up. Superb fluid dynamics throughout the entire Capture Tray means that it can and will sink the gold. And, with the proper set up and feed rate, it will stay there.
Fine tuned to capture fine flour gold down to -300 microns. You won't miss a fleck of gold if your box is tuned in right. The creator of this sluice has coined the term, "Clear = Confidence." By having a clear sluice you can actually see what is going on inside the sluice box. This allows you to adjust the box to get the perfect internal operation and fine tune it for optimal performance.
