If you stick to prospecting long enough you will eventually accumulate enough small pieces of flour gold, flake gold, and small nuggets or “pickers” that you may want to sell it. Some gold buyers do not want this type of gold. Since much of the gold prospected directly from the ground is not 24 karat gold, they have no way of really testing small gold pieces to determine the overall gold content. Once you have accumulated enough gold (say a few ounces) one good way to get it ready to take to the market to sell is to melt it down and pour it into a small gold mold and turn it into an ingot or small gold bar. Gold buyers are more likely to want your gold if it is all melted into an easily transferrable ingot versus tiny gold pieces that are hard to transfer. This way they can even test the ingot for purity and pay a price for the gold that is suitable for their needs.
We offer a couple different types of gold kilns for sale that fit the needs of the small-scale miner or prospector. These kilns operate off ordinary propane gas cylinders and can smelt a few ounces of gold at a time depending on the model purchased. We also sell many of the accessories needed to complete the gold melting process such as molds, ceramic pots, crucibles, gold melting pots, tongs, pot holders, and propane nozzles.
Our kiln kits can smelt most types of metals but it is recommended to have one or more separate crucibles for each type of metal you are melting. Our website offers just about everything a person needs to melt gold or silver and to make small gold or silver bars.
