Waterproof Detectors

There are a variety of different waterproof metal detectors on the market. Just about every major brand including Garrett and XP has at least one submersible detector. Many manufacturers have devices designed specifically for diving deep.

It’s important to know that there's a difference between rainproof metal detectors, water resistant metal detectors, weatherproof metal detectors and waterproof metal detectors. Even if a device says it's waterproof, be sure to check the manufacturer specification to see how deep they can go. Some detectors are submersible up to a shallow depth of ten feet or so and are IP68 metal detectors, while others are designed specifically for scuba diving and are fully submersible. A weatherproof or rainproof metal detector is just that and is often not submersible. Be sure to not only check the water resistance rating of your detector, but also your search coil.

In addition to waterproof metal detectors, many manufacturers offer waterproof pinpointers.
