Minelab just introduced their new X-Terra Pro metal detector. Minelab is at the forefront of research and development in metal detecting technology. They have excellent machines with the features detectorists want. There is no doubt that the new X-Terra Pro will be an awesome machine. Especially when you look at the price tag.
Of course, time will tell how well the detector actually performs. We will try to keep you posted as we get a chance to use it and obtain feedback from users. Since we can't talk first hand experience just yet, we will talk features.
Atop the hand grip is the control box with a ton of cool features. Per the Minelab standard, the audio output will be low latency audio (meaning fast) on the built-in speaker, wired headphones or you can connect with Bluetooth to optional wireless headphone or other Bluetooth devices. On the rear of the control box they have added a handy LED flashlight for low light metal detecting conditions along with a magnetic charging connector and a 3.5MM headphone socket with a waterproof cap.
The X-Terra Pro metal detector is packed with many of the same features of the Equinox series metal detectors. The power button, wireless audio, and lighting controls are in the same locations at the top and side of the control box.
Control button layout is very similar to the Equinox series metal detectors and once you figure them out, they are rather simple to navigate. Settings are not advanced as the Equinox but there is plenty here for just about beginner to intermediate detectorist to dial their metal detector in how they want it.
The X-Terra Pro is not a true multifrequency metal detector like the Equinox Series Metal Detectors. Rather it uses Minelab's "Pro-Switch" technology which allows the user to switch between multiple single frequencies.
Waterproof & Beachworthy
The dedicated beach mode can handle even the most difficult saltwater conditions. If it is anything like the Equinox series detectors, it will be awesome...and I suspect it is.
Waterproof up to 16' allows you to detect even further off the surf line to reach those treasures missed by most metal detectorists. This would be the perfect detector to gear up with along with a small tankless dive system.
For those that have experience with the Equinox series metal detectors from Minelab will have no trouble using this detector. For those who want an entry level metal detector that will grow with them and be great stepping stone for an upgrade down the road.
The X-Terra metal detector features similar modes. It has two park modes, two field modes, and two beach modes all pre programmed. So no terrain is of limits. The "Park 1" mode operates at 10 kHz, "Park 2" operates 15 kHz with the same frequency settings for the "File 1 & Field 2" modes. Both beach modes operate at 8 kHz. These preset modes make it easy for anyone to pick up, put in a mode, and go.
With a large LCD screen display and a simple and intuitive user interface makes it easy to for beginners to get started right out the box, and seasoned hunters to fine-tune settings quickly and easily.
With multiple tone audio options, the sound of treasure has never been clearer — X-TERRA PRO’s advanced audio means you’ll not only ‘hear’ if a target is trash or treasure but you’ll also be able to gauge its size and depth simply by listening.
The X-Terra Pro does not come stock with the optional wireless headphones. But the crystal-clear audio with In-Built Speaker (included) or lightning-fast Low Latency Wireless Headphones, Wired Headphones, and Waterproof Headphones (accessories).
X-TERRA PRO by Minelab offers an array of waterproof coils and is compatible with V12X™ 12"x9" Elliptical Double-D (included), V8X™ 8"x5" Elliptical Double-D, and V10X™ 10"x7" Elliptical Double-D coils (accessory) so you’ll be prepared for any terrain. X-TERRA PRO is also compatible with all EQUINOX® series coils.
The X-TERRA PRO metal detector is backed by Minelab’s global network and up to 3-year warranty.
For those of you who have followed the release of recent Minelab Manticore you know that it may take some time for these to be in regular stock. Having just been announced we are only getting one or two at a time as they fill a long list of backorders from dealers around the world.
