This is the popular miner's moss some call Nomad matting.  It is the same ultimate matting for gold recovery in any sluicing or dredging situation. Miner's Moss traps and holds gold inside woven vinyl fibers. Preferred by commercial dredgers.  Dark blue color helps nuggets stand out.  

Looser strands on one side and tighter strands on the back to help trap more nuggets at the top and lose less through the bottom.
