For scrap dealers, jewelry makers, nuggets, old jewelry, coins - all of you with clean metals - this kit is for you! Now you can use whatever size and shape mold you want or have on hand and pour your pure metals straight into it right from your microwave!
Please note: For clean metals only! For smelting ore and black sand concentrates, you still need to purchase one of our regular kits, such as the GPK Base Kit, the GPK Complete Kit, or the GPK Deluxe Kit. Reason: Concentrates must first have their impurities removed, which requires the addition of refining flux during smelting and a larger crucible and taller kiln. For those of you who already have regular kits and wish to smelt a clean (pure) metal, you can use your existing kiln. Simply (remove (1) 2" layer) and use a 150/oz size (3.5"x3.5") fused silica melting crucible. See JR Instructions page for details on this process.
The Microwave Kiln Gold Processing Kit GPK is simpler, less expensive and far less tedious - not to mention, more fun – than other processes, such as spiral panners or fine gold tables. All you need is a 1200 watt microwave, a few tools and you are on your way to smelting your own gold at home!

Much research and experimentation has gone into the design of this kiln, to ensure the best results for separating fine gold from black sand and ore concentrates - and for smelting down old jewelry. The stacked or layered design allows for replacement of damaged pieces, in the event of spills, while the kiln can be rearranged and stacked to different heights, according to the size (height) crucible used.

1200 watt microwave with turntable plate and turning mechanism removed; the kiln does not need to turn. The microwave must have ???10” inside clearance height, to accomodate the kiln, which is 9.5" tall.
Heat proof gloves –welding type gloves are recommended
Welder’s leather apron

Clear safety goggles
12” x 12” clay tiles to set hot crucibles and pouring mold on
2 depression conical cast iron or graphite assay mold (regular kit does not contain a mold)
