When held correctly, the user will be able to view both the point of reference and the compass reading. 1) To properly hold the compass and set your direction, place your thumb through the Thumb Loop and brace the backside of the compass with your index finger. 2) Raise the compass to eye-level and align the Sighting Slot and Sighting Wire to your point of reference(e.g. Mountain Peak) 3) Peer through the Sighting Lens to view your direction.
