SHR’s Top 5 KEE Testing Tips!

Calibrate your KEE Tester with a known piece of 18K YELLOW gold that does NOT have any special finish or plate on it, or you will need to gently clean the area you’re testing for calibration first. Place it down on the test plate. Lightly touch it with the uncapped, fiber tip pen probe, and adjust the calibration knob so that the needle falls in the center of the 18K range. Please keep the18KY calibration sample with your KEE Tester at all times.

“SNAP’ the pen probe cap tightly closed after testing the item or items. NOT DOING SO WILL DRY OUT THE FIBER TIP AND SUBSTANTIALLY DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE PEN PROBE. Replacement probes are regularly $65 USD.

Please confirm you meter needle resting settings are correct!  The needle should rest on or near the first black line when the unit is powered off. The needle should rest on or near the last black line when then unit is powered on.

Use only light pressure on the pen probe when testing. Excessive pressure will cause the fiber tip to distort, which can shorten the pen probe life.

With the pen cap still snapped tightly on the probe, USE THE PUMICE TO GENTLY CLEAN AN ENTRY POINT, OPENING, THIN AND/OR NARROW (SKINNY) AREA as both gold and non-gold can be plated with a finish on it that may mask its true karat.ON HEAVY PIECES, A FILE SHOULD BE USED TO CLEAN THE SMALL AREA FOR TESTING. REMEMBER, THE AREA THAT YOU CLEAN WILL FACE UP TOWARD YOU WHEN IT IS ON THE SILVER CONDUCTOR PLATE SO THAT THE PROBE TOUCHES THAT CLEANED AREA.

Always avoid Duracell as the Chinese copper top will not work properly with the upgraded firmware of your new 1.5V KEE.Use any other brand. The KEE only takes 1 AA battery.
