What really sets Gold Claw apart is what it does for inexperienced panners. There are other fast pans but Gold Claw doesn't require experience, in fact, we are surprised that newcomers take to it so naturally, shaking side to side and tilting is intuitive. It's the experts that have to unlearn the swirling and dipping we all burned into our muscle memory. Now that a first-timer can successfully finish a full pan in under a minute, they are much more likely to catch gold fever.
We are very proud of the Gold Claw products. Gold Claw is changing paradigms. The Production Pan can pan through a 5 gallon bucket in under a minute! If you want to make bank, you have to move a lot of dirt, and the Production pan easily does just that.
The Original Gold Claw is fast, faster than an 18-inch conventional pan, it can pan through a 5-gallon bucket in under ten minutes, but it is so much smaller you don't get worn out by the weight of the material.
Although the Gold Claw has a different method of panning to get to the final results...and it does work. As for it being faster and more efficient than other pans I've not seen those results. To the contrary... Local professional miners who own claims and do panning frequently found out that my 10 dollar bet was easy to win. The bet was that this newly designed pan in the large production model would easily be faster for going through the same types of material they were already panning through, but a lot faster at doing it. That was a costly bet on my part. After 50 bucks I quit offering the bets. Each time...with completely unrelated individuals, they could use the Gold Claw or choose from 5 other kinds of gold pans.
With a loud timer set to 5 minutes they were able to classify the same materials in other gold pans in 5 minutes or under....After a couple of beers and a chat, some of the "never panned before' folks volunteered that were on that day visiting a gold claim. Only one of those was able to pan quicker with the Gold Claw than with the other pans...while the pros were getting identical results with VARIOUS PANS...because of their skill level...not the pan.
Curiously, when returning home I looked up the Gold Claw for experienced reviews in the field from those who know what they're doing and can give a fair comparison.
First video I watched showed a man with a timer using the GOLD CLAW who got almost identical panning times (within seconds) of using it then panning with 3 other types of gold pans.
And just like what I saw...skilled panners' who've got their techniques and methods down from years of practice found no real increase in panning speed compared to others. Naturally, novices and those who've never panned may find it easier than other pans....but maybe not.
Last but not least...do your homework before you buy one. In my opinion it is seriously overpriced for the amount of plastic material used to make it.
You can find several other comparable pans on the market for half the price or less. (100 bucks for the pan is way, way, to much to ask. Nuff said.
