Using a metal detector to find gold, platinum, silver and other precious metals has been happening for many decades.  In the early days the detectors were inferior to what is available today.

While there has yet to be a metal detector that only finds gold, there are specific metal detectors that are better than others.  Typical features typically include more sensitivity, higher operating kHz, and the ability to handle the heavily mineralized ground commonly found in gold fields.  Click Here to Read my recent Article titled "Will This Metal Detector Find Gold?" to learn more.

Gold prospecting with a metal detector can be fun and rewarding yet challenging.  This is because, when you are prospecting for gold you are typically digging signals that you would not be digging when you are say, coin shooting.  This is because, since gold comes in so many different alloys, shapes, and sizes.  The same goes for gold jewelry. It may range from as small as a tiny diamond studded gold earring or it could be a large, heavy, men's ring.  These factors open a wide range of potential targets when detecting.
