What Has Been Found on Oak Island - With a Metal Detector

We have been following the hit History Channel television show The Curse of Oak Island for about 7 years as of this writing.  Although many average viewers think the  treasure hunt has been a bust, those within the world of metal detecting know otherwise.

Along with what some might consider junk - like leather book bindings, scraps of wood, and iron pieces. There have, in fact, been some valuable items found on Oak Island.

David G. from Nebraska recently shared a story about a great day he had metal detecting around an old house.  David writes:

"Today I had one of my best Dirt Fishing days so far. Using my Equinox 800 purchased from my favorite dealer High Plains Prospectors I hit the Jackpot! This house sets on about one Acre of land, so there’s lots of ground to cover. I’ve hunted the yard on 3 different days now, probably about 12 hours of actual hunt time altogether. Up until today the only high value coins I’ve found was the 1926 D Standing Liberty Quarter I found yesterday and a 1944 D Wheat penny.

Today, I hit the Bonanza, in one 10 ft by 10 ft area I found 1899 Barber Half Dollar (the first one I’ve ever found), another Standing Liberty Quarter (1917), a Barber Dime (1905), a Buffalo Nickel (1918), and another Wheat Penny (1917 D).

EQUINOX SOFTWARE UPDATE 3.0

WHAT IS NEW?

A new Single Frequency of 4 kHz has been added to the existing 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 kHz options. This new 4 kHz frequency enhances the detection of large deep targets, particularly those found in parts of Asia. As a result of optimising for these conditions, this new frequency may respond differently for users compared to the other single frequencies.

All other single and multi-frequency settings are unchanged in their performance.

In addition to the 4 kHz upgrade feature, various stability enhancements have been included.
